ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Junior centerfielder Sean Wilkes collected three hits and classmate Andrew Novick pitched 3.2 innings of solid relief to lead the No. 20 Rensselaer baseball team to a 5-3 victory over Rochester in the Liberty League Tournament.

Baseball Tops Saints to Open League Tourney

Rochester, N.Y. - Senior lefthander Joe Zongol struck out seven while allowing just five hits in a complete game to lead the Rensselaer baseball team to a 6-1 win over St. Lawrence in the first game of the Liberty League Tournament.  Zongol walked three to improve to 9-2 and lower his ERA to 1.62.  He is now just five strikeouts shy of the school career record.

TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League announced its year-end awards in softball and eight Rensselaer student-athletes were honored. Jen Bach, who was named Rookie of the Year, joins Julianne Bass, Felicia Bua, Sara Finkbeiner and Beth Gargon on the All-League First Team.

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer baseball team had a league-high 11 student-athletes earn year-end Liberty League awards, it has been announced. Seven players were chosen to the First Team while four were named Honorable Mention. Additionally, senior pitcher Joe Zongol (Flower Mound, TX/Southington (CT)), one of RPI’s First Team choices, was named the Pitcher of the Year.



WRPI to Air Liberty League Baseball Games

TROY, N.Y. - Rensselaer's baseball games in the Liberty League Tournament this weekend will be aired live on WRPI, 91.5 FM, and www.wrpi.org.  Perry Laskaris '07 will be on the call when the second-seeded Red Hawks face third-seeded St. Lawrence on Friday at 9:30am at the University of Rochester's Towers Field.  The winner of that game faces either top-seeded Rochester or fourth-seeded Clarkson on Friday afternoon (time TBD).
