John White is in his first season as a volunteer instructor with Rensselaer. A member of RPI's Class of 1962 with a BS in physics, he was a three-year member of the baseball program.

Upon graduation White began a 40-year career at the Lawrence Livermore Lab in California. While at Lawrence Livermore, he obtained a PhD in Applied Science from UC Davis.

Considered an expert in the field of applied physics and baseball biomechanics, he has co-authored a "Batting Basics," a book that has sold over 4000 copies. He has been involved with on the field collaborations with hitters for several college and high school programs in California with much success. His position at RPI provides him with a special opportunity to share his knowledge of batting mechanics with the baseball program.
