TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League has announced its weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending November 30th and Rensselaer student-athlete
Sarah Wetmore has been tabbed as the Rookie of the Week.
A guard from Sudbury, Mass., Wetmore led the Red Hawks to a 77-58 victory over Wheaton on Tuesday. She scored 16 points on 7 of 10 shooting from the floor, including 1 of 2 from the beyond the arc. She also recorded six rebounds, three assists and three steals in a team-high 33 minutes.
Wetmore is the second leading scorer for Rensselaer, averaging 13.8 points per game. A graduate of Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School, she is second on the team in average minutes per game (25.7) and three-point shooting (41.7%). Starting all six of the team’s games, she has also recorded 15 assists, a block and a team-high 16 steals.
This is the first weekly award of the season for Wetmore who scored a career-high 18 points, with four rebounds, one assist and six steals in a season opening loss to Fitchburg St. (71-59) on November 15. She matched her career mark with 18 points, three rebounds and five assists in Rensselaer’s 57-46 victory over host Emmanuel College in the championship game of the Saints Invitational on November 23.
The Red Hawks, who have opened their season with a 5-1 record, return to the court on Tuesday, when they visit Williams College (6pm).
