Pat DelMonaco

Pasquale “Pat” DelMonaco, Jr. joined the Rensselaer staff in 2003.
The offensive line coach since his arrival, he is in his sixth year as the offensive coordinator and seventh as the recruiting coordinator.

In 2008, he helped Rensselaer’s offense lead the Liberty League in scoring offense (29.8 points per game) and passing offense (265.5 yards per game) and rank second in total offense (372.7).  Six offensive student-athletes earned All-League honors, including two offensive linemen and quarterback Jimmy Robertson, who was also named the Offensive Player of the Year.

In 2007 DelMonaco directed an offense that averaged 27.5 points and 395.1 yards per contest.  The Engineers averaged 133.6 yards rushing and 261.5 yards passing per game and ranked among the leaders in the Liberty League in scoring offense, passing offense, total offense, passing efficiency (143.73) and sacks against (18).  Nationally, Rensselaer was 29th in team passing efficiency, 35th in passing offense and 57th in total offense.

At season’s end, five offensive players earned All-League honors, including two First Team selections, two garnered All-Region recognition and one — offensive lineman Dave Dillen — was named an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American by CoSIDA.

The 2006 campaign saw the Engineers average 31.3 points and 358.7 yards per game, including 140.8 yards rushing.  The offensive line allowed just 16 sacks as the team led the Liberty League in scoring offense, first downs (185), red zone offense (88.6%) and third down conversions (42.4%) and ranked 25th in the nation in scoring offense.

In 2005, RPI led the league in scoring (33.5 points per game) behind league Rookie of the Year, quarterback Jimmy Robertson.

During DelMonaco’s first two seasons, the Engineers averaged over 5.7 yards per play and more than 425 yards per contest, including 281 passing. The team rushed for over 100 yards in 12 of 21 games and over 200 yards five times.  Rensselaer’s quarterbacks threw for over 300 yards nine times and over 400 yards on four ocassions.

DelMonaco, whose offensive line allowed only six sacks the entire 2004 season, joined the Engineers from Hudson Valley Community College, where he coached the offensive line in his first two years and the quarterbacks in his third and final season. Between his second and third years with the Vikings he was a graduate assistant with the offensive line at the University of Illinois.

As a student-athlete, the Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., native played center at the University of Albany from 1996 to 2000, captaining the team as a senior. During his four years, the Great Danes posted a 35-7 record and won two Eastern Football Conference Championships (1997, 1998).

DelMonaco, who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 2000, resides in Niskayuna with his wife, Kelly, and their children, Julia and Pasquale.
