TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Athletics Department has numerous methods for fans to follow the Engineers, including score updates through text messages, the reception of stories via RSS feeds, using Twitter, Facebook and YouTube and a mobile version of the athletic department's site.  There are also live statistics, live video and radio broadcasts for many of RPI's athletic contests available on the Internet.

Fans can sign up for text messages – or SMS Alerts – in which they receive an alert on their phone or PDA device with scores of each game in the sport for which they choose. Those interested simply need to visit
http://www.rpiathletics.com/member/sms_signup.aspx and follow the steps for inclusion.

RSS (Really Simple Sydication) is an XML format for distributing and aggregating Web content. Feeds that include news links, headlines, summaries, and links to www.rpiathletics.com are created and disseminated. Those who choose to receive RSS feeds are provided stories based on the sports they select. Signing up for RSS feeds can be done at http://rpiathletics.com/rss.aspx.

The RPI Athletics Twitter page allows fans to get the latest news and headlines delivered right to their home computer or mobile device, with links to the story on www.rpiathletics.com. To follow the Twitter page, log on to www.twitter.com/rpiathletics and click on “follow.”  You must have an account with Twitter to follow, which is free.

Facebook continues to be a part of the Engineers' social networking, giving student-athletes, alumni and community members a place to catch up on the latest from RPI Athletics. As is the case with Twitter, a free account through Facebook is needed to join. The page can be found at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=31070281414.

Rensselaer's YouTube Channel continues to show game highlights, post-game interviews with coaches and student-athletes as well as season previews and other feature videos.  The channel can be found at www.youtube.com/RPIathletics.

The direct link to RPI's mobile site is http://www.rpiathletics.com/mobile. Those who visit www.rpiathletics.com using iPhones and Windows CE devices are automatically redirected automatically to the mobile site.  Keep your sights set on an RPI Athletics iPhone app!
