Lincoln Field Named to All-America Third Team in Men's Soccer
Senior midfielder recognized by NSCAA for his outstanding season

TROY, N.Y. – The 2009 NSCAA/Performance Subaru Men’s NCAA Division III All-America Teams were announced and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Lincoln Field has been selected to the Third Team. It is the first All-America recognition of his career.

A native of Contoocook, N.H., Field led the team in scoring with 18 points on a team-best seven goals and four assists. A senior midfielder and captain, he was also tops on the squad in game-winning tallies (2), penalty kicks (4-6) and shots (41).

Field finished fourth in the conference in points (0.95 per game average) and fifth in goals (0.37 average). He was also sixth in shots (2.16 per contest). Field, who earned All-Liberty League First Team honors, garnered ECAC All-Star Second Team recognition and was an All-East Region First Team selection in 2009.

The Hopkinton High School graduate played in 73 games during his career, posting 16 goals and seven assists for 39 points. In addition to leading the team to ECAC Upstate Tournament title in 2007, Field helped Rensselaer post back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament in 2008 & 2009, including a second round showing this season.

As a junior, Field was named to the All-League First Team after leading the team with five goals and an assist for a team-best 11 points as a starter in 18 games.

Field started all 20 games in his sophomore season, posting two goals and an assist for five points. In addition to earning conference Honorable Mention, he captured Most Outstanding Player honors as the Engineers won the ECAC Upstate Championship.

During his rookie season, Field started all 16 games he played in, notching two goals and an assist for five points.

Field was a three-year standout on both the soccer and track & field teams in high school. In addition to serving as the soccer team captain as a senior, he was named to the All-State First Team and was a Twin State Team selection.

Rensselaer, which won the Liberty League regular season title, concluded its season with a 14-3-2 record and a 5-1-1 conference mark.
