Secora Scores Five in Men's Lacrosse's 8-5 Win Over Ursinus
Victory is 100th at RPI for Townsend

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Senior Josh Secora scored five goals to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men’s lacrosse team to an 8-5 victory over Ursinus College in a non-league game. With the victory, the Red Hawks improve to 1-2 and give head coach Jim Townsend the 100th of his career at the Institute. The Bears fall to 2-3.

Secora (Evergreen, CO/Golden), a senior midfielder, broke up a game that was tied in the second half (4-4) by scoring Rensselaer’s last four goals. His first two of the sequence put the Red Hawks ahead 6-4 and his next two made it 8-5.

Also scoring for RPI was sophomore midfielder Conor Chocheles (Babylon, NY/Babylon), who had a first half goal and two assists, sophomore attack Nick Billy (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow), who also scored in the first half, and junior midfielder Brett Evans (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford), who’s goal in the third quarter tied the game at 4-4.

Senior Ryan DeJordy (Albany, NY/Columbia) made 13 saves for Rensselaer, which makes its home debut on Wednesday against Oneonta St. (4pm). For Ursinus, senior Tony Aquilino (Abington, PA/Archbishop Wood) stopped four shots.

The Bears offense came primarily from senior attack Jason Orlando (Morton, PA/Springfield), who had three goals. Dan Monzo (Collegeville, PA/Spring Ford) and David Kraus (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) both had single goals, while Pat Gillen (Merrick, NY/Calhoun) chipped in with an assist.
