2009-10 Men's Hockey Ticket Prices Announced

Premium pricing for select men's games introduced; Season ticket prices remain the same

TROY, N.Y. – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton, in conjunction with Norris Pearson, operations manager of the Houston Field House, have announced the prices for individual game tickets to RPI's 18 men's hockey home games for the 2009-10 season.

The general public price remains as it has been in recent years for 14 home games, while four games feature premium pricing. The majority of contests will cost $10 for adults and $7 for children & seniors, while the four premium-priced games are $13 for adults and $10 for children & seniors.

The games with premium pricing are those against Cornell University on December 4, Union College on December 9, Clarkson University on February 6 and Princeton University on February 20.

The game against the Golden Knights in early February is Alumni Night, featuring the 25th Anniversary of the 1985 NCAA Championship team, while the game versus the Tigers is the 33rd Annual Big Red Freakout! as well as Senior Night.

Individual game tickets for Rensselaer's 2009-10 season go on sale on Monday, September 28 at 9am.

Season tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased at the Houston Field House box office. The price for season tickets is $144 for the general public, $126 for RPI faculty, staff and alumni/ae and $108 for children (ages 3-12). (The price for 1 ticket to each game at the individual ticket rate is $196 for adults and $138 for children.)

The box office is presently open Monday through Friday from 10am to 3pm. The hours will be extended to 9am to 5pm beginning August 10. Those interested in obtaining more information can contact the box office via telephone at 518-276-6262.

Rensselaer, which features six National Hockey League (NHL) draft picks, returns 23 players. Five newcomers join the team, which advanced to the league quarterfinals last year.

The Engineers, who are coached by Seth Appert, kick off the 2009-10 season on October 3 in an exhibition game against Prince Edward Island on Homecoming and Reunion Weekend. The game, which begins at 7pm, is also part of the East Campus Athletic Village Grand Opening festivities.
