Numerous Contests to be Televised Live

ECAV grand opening game to air live on Time Warner Sports

TROY, N.Y. – Two Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) football games and at least six men's hockey games will be televised live this season, including one game on national television. Four of the games will be played in Troy, while the others are away contests.

The first broadcast is RPI's football game on Saturday, October 3, at 1pm against the University of Rochester. The game, the Liberty League home opener for the Engineers, is part of the grand opening of the $114 million East Campus Athletic Village – the most extensive athletic construction project in school history – as well as Homecoming and Reunion Weekend. It will be televised by Time Warner Sports in Albany.

The other football game scheduled for broadcast, also on Time Warner Sports, is the Dutchman Shoes Trophy Game against Union College on October 31. That game, which begins at 1pm, will be played at Frank Bailey Field in Schenectady.

The first of three home men's hockey games to be aired on Time Warner Sports is Saturday, October 24 at 7pm, against American International College. Games on January 23 against Harvard University (4pm) and February 20 versus Princeton University (7pm) will also be shown. The game against the Tigers is the 33rd Annual Big Red Freakout! as well as Senior Appreciation Night.

The road men's hockey games scheduled to be televised are January 10 at Princeton (3pm) on ESPNU, January 16 at Union (7pm) on Time Warner Sports in Albany and February 26 at Colgate University (7pm) on Time Warner Sports in Syracuse. The game in New Jersey against the Tigers was originally scheduled for February 8 but was moved to accommodate the national broadcast.

The final game that could be aired is the championship game of the Great Lakes Invitational on December 30 on FSN Detroit. RPI faces the University of Michigan in the opening round and either Michigan State University or Michigan Tech. University the next day.

Games that appear live on Time Warner Cable will be carried on channel 3 in most areas. Replay times will be scheduled for each game and all games will be archived on Time Warner Sports On Demand (Channel 1003), accessible to all Time Warner Cable Digital Cable customers.

The broadcasters for the football games are expected to be Andrew Catalon (play-by-play) and Rodney Smith (color analyst). The broadcasters for the hockey games have yet to be determined.
