TROY, N.Y. – D3baseball.com has announced its Preseason All-America Team and Rensselaer student-athletes Patrick Reardon and Andrew Mondo have been named to the First and Second Team, respectively. Both helped lead RPI to the school record in wins (37-13) and an appearance in the NCAA New York Regional Championship game, a season ago.

A senior from Troy, N.Y., Reardon hit a club-best .409 (79 for 193) with 22 doubles, a triple and 10 home runs, last year. The Liberty League Player of the Year set new single-season records in hits (79) and runs scored (61), while driving in 54. The catcher led the team with a .689 slugging percentage and a .491 on-base percentage.

The former LaSalle Institute standout also broke the single-season games played mark, playing in all 50 games. An All-Region First Team selection at catcher, Reardon's 22 doubles in 2009 rank second in school history, while his 10 home runs are third. Nationally, he was seventh in doubles, 11th in hits, 14th in total bases and 25th in runs scored.

In his career, Reardon is a .386 (175 for 453) hitter in 129 games. He has recorded 45 doubles, which is second all-time at RPI, while also collecting two triples, 15 home runs, 128 runs scored and 123 runs batted in. Seeing time in the outfield, as well as designated hitter throughout his career, he has a .594 lifetime slugging percentage and a .473 on-base percentage.

A senior pitcher from Clifton Park, N.Y., Mondo broke the Rensselaer single-season mark for wins in 2009, going 11-3 with a 3.03 earned run average and a 1.27 WHIP (walks plus hits per innings pitched) in 15 starts. The 2009 Liberty League Pitcher of the Year led Rensselaer with two complete games and a shutout and was also tops on the team in strikeouts (93) and innings pitched (92.0). Opponents hit .255 off the right-hander.

An All-Region and All-Liberty League First Team selection, Mondo has a 20-5 record in 39 career games. In 26 starts, he has a 3.99 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP, while throwing 171.1 innings. The Shenendehowa High School graduate has struck out 154 batters compared to 54 walks.

The baseball team opens its season on March 6, when it faces Thiel College in Winter Haven, Fla.
