TROY, N.Y. – Freshman Bo Dolan (St. Paul, MN/Penticton Vees) scored the game-tying goal with 2:43 to play in the third period and sophomore Marty O'Grady (London, ON/Wellington Dukes) notched the shootout winner to lead the Rensselaer men's hockey team to a 4-3 exhibition victory over the United States National Juniors Team, at the Houston Field House.

A Dolan slap shot from the right point tied the game (3-3) at the 17:17 mark of the third period. The freshman defenseman picked off a clearing attempted and fired into the right side of the cage, sending the game into overtime.

After a scoreless five minutes, the two sides took 12 rounds of a shootout to determine the winner. In the deciding frame, O'Grady lofted a backhanded shot past Andy Iles (Ithaca, NY/Cornell University) and Rensselaer junior netminder Allen York (Wetaskiwin, AB/Camrose Kodiaks) watched Jerry D'Amigo's (Binghamton, NY/Toronto Marlies) attempt whistle off the right post to secure an Engineers' victory.

The U.S. opened the scoring, just a minute and a half into the contest, when a face-off win at the right circle was won back to Chris Brown (Flower Mound, TX/University of Michigan), who ripped a shot in the top left corner of the net. Brock Nelson (Minneapolis, MN/University of North Dakota) earned the lone assist.

Rensselaer tied the game at 1-1, on a power-play goal by sophomore CJ Lee (Staten Island, NY/Green Bay Gamblers), 1:39 into the second frame. Junior Patrick Cullen (Washington, DC/Indiana Ice) slipped a pass in front of the cage, where Lee was able to stick it home. O'Grady picked up the second assist.

Senior Chase Polacek (Edina, MN/Academy of Holy Angels) gave the hosts a 2-1 lead at the 6:37 mark of the second, when he redirected a shot from the right point by freshman Johnny Rogic (North Vancouver, BC/Alberni Valley Bulldogs). Polacek started the play by leaving a drop pass for Bailen, who in turn left the puck for Rogic. Rogic then threw a shot torwards goal, where Polacek redirected it in.

The Under-20 squad pulled even at 9:48 on the second on a one-timer goal by Emerson Etem (Long Beach, CA/Medicine Hat Tigers). Jason Zucker (Las Vegas, NV/University of Denver) delivered a centering pass from the right corner to Etem, who was all alone in the slot.

Brown gave the visitors back the lead with just six seconds to play in the period, when he skated up the left wing and wristed a shot past York, glove side. Nelson was credited with his second assist on Brown's second goal.

York finished with 34 saves, including 17 in the first period, while Jack Cambell (Port Huron, MI/Windsor Spitfires) and Iles recorded 12 and four stops, respectively.

The Engineers are back in action on December 30, and 31, when visit Alabama-Huntsville. The U.S. National Junior Team faces the Czech Republic in an exhibition match-up on Tuesday.
