Softball Throws Combined No-Hitter Against Pine Manor

CLERMONT, Fla. - Junior Jen Bach (Lansdale, PA/Gwynedd Mercy Academy) and sophomore Sarah Palleschi (Chatham, NY/Chatham) combined to throw a five-inning no-hitter as the Rensselaer softball team defeated Pine Manor College, 15-0. With the win, the Engineers improve 3-6, while the Gators fall to 0-9.

Bach, who started the game, pitched 3.0 perfect innings to start the game, striking out two. Palleschi allowed a walk in her 2.0 hit-less innings of relief, while striking out one.

The Engineers ripped 13 hits in the game, led by freshman Gillian McCarthy (Worthington, OH/Thomas Worthington), who went 3 for 5 with two doubles, two runs scored and five runs batted in. Classmate Caitlin McGivern (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) was 2 for 2 with a triple and two RBIs, while junior captain Genevieve Falco (Seaford, NY/Seaford) finished 2 for 3 with a double, a run and two RBIs.

The Engineers afternoon match-up with Lesley University was postponed due to weather. RPI is back on the field tomorrow against Simmons College (9:30am) and Wisconsin-Lutheran College (11:30am).
