TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League has announced its year-end honorees in men's soccer and three Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes have been honored. Leading the way for the Engineers was freshman

Adam Updegrove were named to the Second Team.
Koziol, a midfielder from Poughkeepsie, N.Y., was the choice by the league's coaches for top rookie honors after leading the Engineers in scoring with five goals for 10 points. Playing all 14 of the team's games, including 12 as a starter, he was tops on the club in shot attempts (30), shots on goal (13) and game-winning goals (3).
Among the league's best, the former Franklin D. Roosevelt (Hyde Park) High School graduate was fourth in game-winning goals. In addition to recording points in five of the team's 17 games, he scored the game-winners against Cazenovia, MCLA and against conference-rival Clarkson.
A senior defender from Rochester, N.Y., Shelofsky earned his third career year-end honor after helping the Engineers defense hold opponents to just 13 goals this season, while also posting 10 shutouts. A captain, he also led RPI to the top in a number of defensive categories among Liberty League rivals. Shelofsky, who scored a goal and assisted on another for three points, was also a Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week once.
Additionally, the former Greece Athena High School standout – who was a Second Team selection as a junior and sophomore – navigated a defensive unit that ranks third in the Liberty League in goals allowed per game (0.73). The team allowed just 10.24 shots per contest and is currently ranked second in overall shots on goal allowed (64). Rensselaer also ranks second in the conference in shutouts and shutouts per game (0.59).
Updegrove, a junior midfielder from Carson City, Nev., was named to the Second Team after posting a goal for two points. A captain in 2011, he played in and started 14 games with 22 shots, including 10 on goal to his credit.
This is the second year-end award for the Carson High School graduate, who was named to the First Team last season.
Led by 10th-year head coach
Adam Clinton, the Engineers posted a record of 7-6-4 this season. The squad went 2-3-3 in Liberty League play, finishing sixth overall in the standings.
