TROY, N.Y. - Thea Imbrogno had a goal and an assist and the Robert Morris University held off Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 3-2, in a non-league women's hockey game at Houston Field House. The game was the first of two weekend matchups between the Engineers (2-8-1) and the Colonials (6-2-1).

It was the Colonials who broke out in front when sophomore Maddie Collias (Roseville, MI / Belle Tire) drove the center of the ice and redirected an Imbrogno (Etobicoke, ON/Mississauga Jr. Chiefs) pass into the back of the net at 8:31 of the first period. The goal was the first of the season for Collias, who circled the puck out of the corner and passed it to Imbrogno to start the scoring play.

The Engineers tied the game 1:29 later when senior Taylor Horton (St. Thomas, ON / Bluewater Jr. Hawks) drove down the left side of the ice, cut to the middle and fired a wristshot off the bottom of the crossbar for her fourth goal of the season. Taylor Mahoney (Cary, IL / Chicago Mission) and Katie Daniels (Rockton, IL / Chicago Mission) earned the assists.

Imbrogno put the visitors back in front when she scored from the left faceoff circle with Robert Morris on the power play. A 5x3 advantage had just turned into a 5x4 edge when Imbrogno scored her third goal of the season. Kelsey Thomas (Hamilton, ON / Hamilton Hawks) and Kristen Richards (Toronto, ON / Niagara University) had the helpers on the goal, which came at the 10:08 mark.

The score remained 2-1 until 18:16 of the third period when Robert Morris senior Cobina Delaney (Stittsville, ON / Ottawa Jr. Senators) scored on a breakaway for a two-goal advantage. Thomas picked up her second assist of the game, while Kelsey Gunn (Smith Falls, ON / Niagara University) also had a hand in the play.

RPI pulled to within one with an Alexa Gruschow (Mechanicburgh, PA / Washington Pride) power play goal with the Engineers' goalie on the bench. Gruschow scored her team-leading eighth of the season when she swept in a shot from between the circles with 21 seconds remaining.

Senior Kristen DiCiocco (Brighton, MI / Belle Tire) did not allow another goal for the victory. She had 25 saves. Sophomore Kelly O'Brien (Sussex, WI / Madison Capitals) made 29 stops for Rensselaer, including 14 in the third period.
