HANOVER, N.H. – Freshman Brad Schierhorn scored 2:36 into the game and the Dartmouth College men's hockey team went to defeat Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 4-0, this evening in ECAC Hockey action from Thompson Arena. With the win, the Big Green improve to 4-0-1 overall (3-0-0 ECAC Hockey), while the Engineers drop to 1-4-2 (0-3-0 ECAC Hockey).

Schierhorn (Anchorage, AK/Tri-City Storm) picked up a loose puck in the RPI zone and zipped a shot off the post and in from a tight angle to give the hosts all they would need. The tally, which came at 2:36 of the opening frame, was the first of Schierhorn's collegiate career.

Dartmouth tacked on three more goals in the second period, including one 4:23 into the stanza, when sophomore Eric Neiley (Warminster, PA/Exeter) buried a rebound into an open net, after Rensselaer sophomore netminder Scott Diebold (Buffalo, NY/Tri-City Storm) had stopped an initial shot by Big Green sophomore Andy Simpson (Cheterfield, MA/Cedar Rapids RoughRiders). Classmate Tyler Sikura (Aurora, ON/Newmarket Hurricanes) picked up the second assist.

Sikura made it 3-0 at 10:21 of the second period after intercepting a pass at the RPI blue line skating in on a breakaway. He beat Diebold five-hole for his fourth of the season.

Big Green junior Eric Robinson (Foxboro, MA/Cedar Rapids RoughRiders) capped the scoring just over a minute later, when he fired through a screen for his team-leading sixth of the year. Sophomore Charlie Mosey (Prior Lake, MN/Bismarck Bobcats) earned the lone helper.

Dartmouth outshot the Engineers 22-18 in the game, including 17-10 over the first two periods.

The Engineers are back in action tomorrow night, when they visit 14th-ranked Harvard in Cambridge (7pm).
