TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League has announced year-end award winners in baseball and six Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes have been recognized.
Kyle LaVigne was named to the All-Liberty League First Team, while
Jonny Rio earned Second Team honors.

Chuck Erickson,
Andrew Kalish and
Eric Kozak were Honorable Mention.
A senior centerfielder from Ashland, Mass., LaVigne is batting a team-best .403 (58 for 144), while starting in all 40 of the team's games. He leads the Engineers in triples (2), runs batted in (38), runs scored (38), slugging percentage (.597), on-base percentage (.467) and stolen bases (33). He is second in home runs (6) and hits (58), while committing just one error in 104 defensive chances (.990).
Second in the conference in home runs and runs batted in, LaVigne is third in batting average, hits, runs scored, total bases and slugging percentage. The former Ashland High School graduate, who is seventh in on-base percentage, recently surpassed Michael Passante '06 for the school's single season stolen base record with his 33rd steal against Vassar last weekend.
Rio, a junior shortstop out of Maplewood, N.J., is second on the club in batting average at .386 (61 for 158) and is the team-leader in doubles with 12. He has recorded a triple, a home run, 36 runs scored and 15 runs batted in, with a .494 slugging percentage and a .417 on-base percentage. A graduate of Columbia High School, he is also 8 for 10 on stolen base attempts.
A junior outfielder from Keene, N.H., Boucher is third on the Engineers with a .331 (49 for 148) batting average. He has nine doubles, a triple, four home runs, 31 runs scored and 32 runs batted in. The Keene High School graduate has compiled a .486 slugging percentage and a .389 on-base percentage, while stealing 10 bases in 15 attempts.
Kalish, a sophomore second baseman out Clifton Park, N.Y., is hitting .326 (43 for 132), with four doubles, a triple and two home runs. He has also recorded 23 runs and 25 runs batted in, with a .417 slugging percentage and a .361 on-base percentage. A former standout at Shenendehowa High School, he has also stolen two bases so far this year.
A sophomore catcher from New York, N.Y., Kozak has hit .315 (35 for 111) in 38 games this season. He has recorded nine doubles, two triples, 19 runs scored and 11 runs batted in, while compiling a .432 slugging percentage and a .449 on-base percentage. The Dalton School graduate has thrown out 16 of 60 (26.6%) potential base-stealers.
The baseball team (22-18; 19-9 LL) secured the second-seed in the upcoming Liberty League Tournament and will face third-seeded Skidmore on Thursday at 12pm.
