BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore Cason Hohmann scored 2:56 into overtime to lift the No. 9 Boston University men's ice hockey team to a thrilling 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Rensselaer on Friday evening at Agganis Arena. BU improves to 11-6-0 with the win. Rensselaer falls to 6-8-4.
Hohmann also assisted on the game-tying goal, which came from the stick of junior Sahir Gill at the 5:30 mark of the third.
Rensselaer never trailed in the game until the final shot, opening the scoring exactly 10 minutes into the game before scoring again at 14:43 of the second to take a 2-1 advantage. Sophomore
Ryan Haggerty netted the first goal, while CJ Lee had the second. Haggerty picked up an assist on the Lee's marker.
Freshman Sean Maguire won his fourth straight start and moved to a perfect 3-0-0 at home with his 27-save performance. RPI got 38 saves from senior
Bryce Merriam.
The Terriers held a 41-29 shot advantage, including a 15-4 margin in the third, but came up empty on all five of their power-play chances. BU committed just one penalty, however, and was able to successfully kill it off.
