FLEETWOOD, Pa. - Jim Knowlton, Director of Athletics, and Guy Rozier, Chief Advancement Officer, Athletics, were recently honored to participate in the Inaugural CanCorp Ron Moreau Memorial Golf Outing at the Golden Oaks Golf Club. The event was hosted TR Moreau, CEO of CanCorp, to honor the memory and legacy of his father.
Ronald Moreau '70 was a former RPI hockey player and longtime supporter of the program who became chief executive officer and president of Can Corporation of America. He passed away in October 2012.
"Ron is a great example of what it means to be an Engineer in our hockey program and for life," said current head men's hockey coach Seth Appert, who played in numerous CanCorp outings with Ron Moreau.
Ron's four years at RPI are described as legendary as his presence on and off the ice were exciting and inspirational. His time as an RPI hockey player was something Moreau believed changed the course of his life, and something for which he was enternally grateful and proud.Â
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Ron all agree he was a man who believed that honesty, a strong work ethic and devotion to family were the benchmarks that one should live their life by. Coach Appert stated, "His passion and dedication to his family, his company and the RPI Hockey Program will never be forgotten."
His passion for hockey and his loyalty to RPI are greatly appreciated. When remembering Moreau, Knowlton said, "Ron was an incredible leader who stayed involved with the RPI hockey program for many years. He inspired our student-athletes and left a legacy that will always be remembered."
