MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y. - Behind four All-Region honorees, including three who finished in the top 12 overall, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's cross country team finished third at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championships, one spot away from an automatic berth as a group. The Engineers, the first in school history to finish in the top three, can still qualify as an at-large team selection for the NCAA Division III Championship Meet, which takes place on November 21 in Winecone, Wis., at the Lake Breeze Golf Club.

Rensselaer, which is ranked 10th in Division III, was paced by sophomore Jaime Lord (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland), who was fifth overall with a time of 22:07.2 over the 6k course at Letchworth State Park. She ran at a 5:56 pace and placed under a second behind the fourth place finisher. Senior Shannon Trant was second on Rensselaer and eighth overall at 22:16.6, nearly two seconds in front of the ninth place finisher. Junior Maddie Dery (Mahopac, NY / Mahopac) was third on the team and 12th overall, crossing in 22:23.0.

Mary West (Fulton, NY / G. Ray Bodley), a junior, rounded out RPI's All-Region runners with a 28th place finish (22:54.1), while senior Alexa Sakorafos (Brookfield, CT / Immaculate) also scored for RPI with a 50th place finish (23:21.8).
