Women's Hockey Announces Schedule for 2017-18 Season

Engineers will play six games against 2016-17 NCAA Tournament teams, including national champions Clarkson

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's ice hockey schedule for the 2017-18 season has been finalized and will include 34 games regular season games, including 15 at the Houston Field House. Highlighting this year's schedule are six contests against 2016-17 NCAA Tournament teams.

"We're looking forward to the upcoming season and the challenging schedule we've put together," said 15th-year head coach John Burke. "It includes NCAA Tournament teams and a national champion."

After hosting the University of Montreal in an exhibition game at the Houston Field House on September 23, RPI opens regular season play on the road, when it visits Ohio State University on September 29 and 30. The Engineers then kick-off their home schedule with a two-game series against the University of Maine, the following weekend (Oct.6-7).

RPI visits CHA-foe RIT on October 13 and 14, before returning home for its ECAC Hockey opener against Yale University (Oct. 27). After facing Brown the following day, the Engineers hit the road for four straight, beginning with a two-game series at UConn (Nov. 3-4). The road trip concludes with conference games at Princeton University and Quinnipiac University (Nov. 10-11).

A home series with the University of New Hampshire follows (Nov. 18-19), before RPI concludes November with its final two non-league games of the year at Mercyhurst (Nov. 24-25).

The Engineers stay on the road when they visit Brown and Yale (Dec. 1-2), closing out the season series with the two conference foes before the New Year. RPI finishes the first half at home, when it welcomes St. Lawrence University and defending national champions, Clarkson University to Troy (Dec. 8-9).

After the holiday break, The Engineers host Harvard University and Dartmouth College (Jan. 5-6) to wrap up their season-long, four-game home stint. A trip to the North Country follows, as RPI visits Clarkson and St. Lawrence (Jan. 12-13). The team stays on the road the following weekend, traveling to Cornell and Colgate (Jan. 19-20).

The Engineers host area-rivals Union College (Jan. 26), before dueling the Dutchwomen at the Times Union Center prior to the Sixth Annual Mayor's Cup Game (Jan. 27) – a non-league contest between RPI and Union men's hockey teams.

RPI is back at the Houston Field House to take on Quinnipiac and Princeton (Feb. 2-3), with the annual Alumnae Game preceding Saturday's match-up with the Tigers. The final regular season road trip of the year follows, at Dartmouth and Harvard (Feb. 9-10).

Rensselaer concludes its regular year with home games against Colgate and Cornell (Feb. 16-17). Saturday's contest against the Big Red will be Senior Day.

The Engineers posted a 10-24-2 overall record in 2016-17 with a 7-14-1 ECAC Hockey mark, making the league tournament for the second consecutive season.
