Started in 2003, Black Friday takes place on the first home game of league competition. All fans are encouraged to dress in all black and the RPI players wear special black uniforms for that game only. The uniforms are auctioned off during the game and after the contest, the winners are presented their sweaters by the Rensselaer player whose jersey they have been awarded. In the six years since the special night began, the Engineers have posted a 6-0-1 record, including a 5-2 win over Yale, the 2009 ECAC Hockey Champion. This year RPI faces area-rival Union on Black Saturday, which is November 13.
