Troy, N.Y. — Two years ago, the East Campus Athletic Village (ECAV) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute began with the stroke of a shovel. On October 3, the Institute officially unveiled the new facility–the most extensive athletic construction project in Rensselaer history, offering athletic and recreation facilities that will change the student experience dramatically.

TROY, N.Y. - Media members had an opportunity to tour RPI's East Campus Athletic Village project - the most extensive athletic construction project in the Institute’s history.  The first phase of the facility, which includes a new stadium, arena, locker rooms, a strength & conditioning center and more, is set to open this September.

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer 2008-09 senior student-athletes were recognized at the annual banquet. As part of the dinner the newest members of Olympia, the athletic department’s student-athlete honor society, were honored. Forty-one individuals were chosen from this year’s senior class.

TROY, N.Y. – The Hartwick College men’s tennis team edged Rensselaer, 5-4, this afternoon at Sharp Courts. The Engineers, who were led by freshman Matthew Asher’s (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) win at third singles, conclude the season with a 3-7 record.

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Rensselaer men’s tennis team competed in the Liberty League Championships, hosted by Hobart on Saturday. The #6 Engineers, who finish the season with a 3-6 record, posted sixth at this year’s tournament. RPI lost in the first round, 9-0, to #3 St. Lawrence (10-3) before falling to #4 Union (2-9) in the fifth place game by a score of 6-3.

SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union men’s tennis team claimed a 6-3 victory against Rensselaer on Thursday afternoon. The Dutchmen, who moved to 1-9 on the season, won all three doubles matches and three of six singles decisions to pick up the victory over the Engineers, who are now 3-4. Senior Ed Cullen led the way for RPI, winning at first singles, to improve to 5-2 individually.
