Day Two Results

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Rensselaer women’s tennis team concluded play at the New York State Championships on Saturday. No team scores were kept at the meet.

RPI saw four players in action today, including sophomore Zosia Casterline (Farmington, MI/Farmington) and freshman Brianna Dickie (Acton, MA/Acton Regional) both reached the quarterfinal rounds at 3rd and 4th singles, respectively. Freshman Hetal Baman (Blauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee) and senior Kimberly Viles (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) paired up to reach the quarterfinals at 3rd doubles.

Casterline entered this year’s championships as the ninth-seeded player in the state at third singles. She beat Barry Edgar of St. Lawrence (7-5, 6-3) before falling to Skidmore's Nataly Mendoza (6-1, 6-2). 

Dickie advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating RIT’s Lindsey Gibson (7-5, 6-4). She then lost (6-2, 6-1) to Elizebeth Anderson of Vassar.

Singles

#3 Casterline fell to Mendoza (SKD): 6-1, 6-2

#4 Dickie fell to Anderson (VAS): 6-2, 6-1

Doubles

#3 Baman & Viles fell to Lisa Mijovic & Ariel Sultan (NYU): 8-1

The Engineers conclude the fall portion of their schedule with a 2-2 record. They will continue play in the spring, including the Liberty League Championships in March.
