TROY, N.Y. – The Mount Holyoke women's tennis team won four of six singles matches and defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 5-4, this afternoon at Sharp Courts. With the win the Lyons improve to 3-4 this spring, while the Engineers fall to 3-6 overall.
RPI senior
Christine Roe (Phoenix, AZ/North) won at first singles, and junior
Jessica Sitzer (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills
) came back to win at second singles, but Mount Holyoke's 3-6 singles competitors came away with wins, including Heather Richardson (Holden, MA/Massachusetts Math & Science), who came away victorious in the fourth spot.
Roe and Sitzer combined to win at first flight doubles (8-2), while Engineers
Zosia Casterline (Farmington, MI/Farmington) and
Brianna Dickie (Acton, MA/Acton Regional) teamed up for a third doubles victory (8-2).
Rensselaer is back in action on April 14, when it hosts SUNY-Cobleskill at Sharp Courts (4pm).
