HILTON HEAD, S.C. –
Jeanette Carillo and
Christina Ciamarra both earned singles victories after pairing up for the win at third doubles, to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team to a come-from-behind, 5-4, victory over Spring Harbor. With the win, the Engineers improve to 5-2 overall, while the Cougars fall to 1-10.
Carillo (Brooklyn, NY/Fontbonne Hall Academy) and Ciamarra (Woodbury, MN/Newtown) picked up the club's lone doubles victory, defeating Spring Harbor's Jenna Moore and Jennifer Wagner (Detroit, MI), 8-1. Ciamarra then topped Cougars freshman Jenna Bart (Grand Rapids, MI) in straight sets (6-4, 6-2), while Carillo was victorious at sixth singles (6-1, 6-3).
RPI junior Zosia Casterine (Farmingdale, MI/Farmingdale) took home the win at second flight singles, downing Kragt, 7-5, 6-0.
