TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's track & field team compiled 180 points and the Ithaca College women garnered an outstanding 282 points to win the 2011 NYSCTC Outdoor Championship Meets, held this afternoon at RPI's Ned Harkness Track & Field. The Bombers' men and the Rochester women's squads each finished second among the 10-team field.
The Ithaca men finished second with 166 points, Rochester was third with 118 points, followed by St. Lawrence (102), RIT (94), Utica (64), Alfred (60), Union (38), Hamilton (21) and Nazareth (11). On the women's side, the Yellowjackets finished second with 141 points followed by Rensselaer (140), St. Lawrence (94), RIT (50.50), Alfred (49), Hamilton (46.50), Utica (22), Nazareth (16) and Union (15).
Earning the women's Runner of the Meet was Ithaca's Marcia McCord. Her teammate Emma Dewart was the Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet, while Alfred's Rebecca Graudons garnered Rookie of the Meet honors. For the men, Rochester's Brian Lang was the Runner of the Meet, while RPI's Ja'Mar Watson was the Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet. Taking home top Rookie honors for the men was Utica's Breiten Balshcmiter.
Rensselaer head coach Colin Tory and his staff were the men's Coaching Staff of the Meet, while Ithaca's Jennifer Potter and her staff took home the women's honors.
