ScoresheetANN ARBOR, Mich. - The University of Michigan scored two goals within 29 seconds late in the third period to overcome a 2-1 deficit and the Wolverines held off the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's hockey team, 3-2, in a non-league game at Yost Ice Arena. The Engineers fall to 6-8-1, while Michigan evens its record at 6-6-0.
With the game tied at 1-1 entering the third period, Rensselaer got a goal from sophomore
Riley Bourbonnais at 6:17 to take its first lead of the contest. The score stayed that way until the 16:58 mark when Tyler Motte scored his fifth of the season. Just 29 seconds later, Michigan's leading scorer, Zach Hyman, notched his sixth of the season for a 3-2 lead. Defenseman Michael Downing assisted on both goals.
Alex Kile gave the home team the lead at 15:55 of the first period, but RPI battled back to tie the score when junior
Milos Bubela scored on the power play at 8:45 of the second period.
Jacob Laliberte and Bourbonnais set up the goal, Bubela's second of the season.

Scott Diebold suffered the loss for RPI, making 30 saves in 58:59. He was pulled for an extra attacker with 1:01 to play in regulation, but the Engineers could not beat Michigan netminder Zach Nagelvoort a third time. He finished with 25 saves.
The same two teams square off again on Saturday at 7:35pm.
